Brierstone still privately owned, was established 37 years ago by two friends as a designated A1 house builder by the National House Building Council (NHBC) the UK’s leading independent arbiter of housing standards.
Completing its first housebuilding project back in 1981 the business quickly progressed over the subsequent decades to undertake major, high-volume developments throughout the north-west of England.
Brierstone has previously won large tenders and enjoyed long and successful partnerships with several social housing providers, such as Oldham Council, St Vincent’s and the North British Housing Association. These included a high-volume housebuilding project of 200 homes in the suburbs Oldham, plus 16 retirement bungalows on the Duchess Park Estate in Shaw. Working with social housing providers has led to us undertaking several specialists builds for residents with disabilities. These necessitate various internal and external adaptations, and close partnership with the local authorities.
In recent years, a vast range of sites across the north have been developed to provide stunning new-build homes and sympathetic conversions of old industrial buildings, such as large textile mills into contemporary apartment complexes. Thanks to high demand, operations have expanded across Lancashire, Yorkshire and Greater Manchester; encompassing projects in Rochdale, Holmfirth, Ashton-under-Lyne, Middleton, Barnoldswick and Huddersfield to name but a few.
In 2015 the business entered an exciting partnership to undertake the refurbishment of a 47-bedroom care home. The success of the project resulted in Brierstone being further contracted to work on the refurbishment of the Llandudno Bay Hotel & Spa. This is a spectacular, 61-bedroom, boutique-style property, featuring a restaurant, ballroom, lounge and two state-of-the-art-kitchens.
The Company's Managing Director Dax Bradley continues to deliver upon the success of the business and furthermore in the past 12 months he has expanded its reach within the large scale residential development sector.
